<햇볕과 밤의 중간지대>에서는 30대부터 80대까지 세대별로 섭외한 제주해녀들이 이야기하는 해녀들의 이야기다. 직업으로서 의미가 점점 퇴색되어가는 과정이 담겨있는 그들의 목소리를 통해 우리가 인식하지 못하는 사이 소멸하는 노동, 그리고 그 안의 사람들에 대해 이야기하고자 하였다. 서로를 돕던 손이 사라지는 것과 같이. 제목은 김승옥 작가가 ‘앞이 보이지 않는 짙은 안개’를 묘사한 문장으로 현 상황을 은유적으로 표현하고자 차용하였다.
‘Between Sunshine and Night’ is the Haenyeo’s stories telling by Haenyeo. They talk about their job’s rise and fall and people in it. In their voice, audience can notice the process how Haenyeo has fade away as a job. Through their conversation, I try to make critical conversation about disappearing labors while we cannot recognize and people in it, like holding each other’s hand being disappeared. I borrow title from comment of KIM Seungok, who wrote Record of a Journey to Mujin, about a thick fog that makes hide everything as a metaphor of this situation.
