About Memories Project II_Freezing Point

이 프로젝트는 사라지고 있는 제주어를 해녀와 연결 지어 작업을 하던 중, 제작에 참여한 해녀 할머니가 무심코 뱉은 “이제 진짜 해녀는 거의 없어…”라는 자조적인 말에서 시작한다. 한 때 성행했던 해녀라는 일과 힘든 노동을 잊기 위해 다 같이 불렀던 그들의 노동요는 이제는 거의 사라지고, 문화 사업의 일환으로 혹은 관광객들을 위한 박물관의 공연의 형식으로 이어가고 있다. 현재 그들의 모습은 사라지고 있거나 그 일부만 박제화가 시작되었다고 해도 과언이 아니다. 이는 비단 해녀들의 노래, 그들의 삶의 모습 뿐만은 아닐 것이다. 
이들의 모습이 박제화가 되어가는 이면에는 사람들 사이에서 부딪히며 같이 해야 하거나, 협동을 통해서 이루어지는 노동들에서 사람들이 사라지고 있다는 점이 드러난다. 4차 산업의 열풍, 언택트의 시대, 그 속에서 일하던 ‘사람’들은 어디로 갔을까?

This Project starts from the sentimental remark of a Haenyeo (Korean female diver), who participated in my Memories Project 1: “ There are no true Haenyeo anymore. Even those few left today will be gone too”. The Haenyeo's song were wildly sung among Haenyeo while they working together to forget how hard the work, in the past. However, lately the song are sung in the museum as a cultural performance, not for their original work.  Like the song declining, Haenyeo as a job, has  gone into a decline. Lately, their job would become stuffed already. It is not just for Haenyeo and their lives. Many works/ jobs and lives in those are in similar situations. 

Behind of that, we can notice that many labors which need to physically work together, and need face-to-face to work, have been disappearing due to technological advance and advent of contact-less era. However, where does people who worked in those labor?I focus on the voice of labors who work in traditional occupations which are in decline in this project.
