<사라지는 것들, 기억, 길들여지거나 남는 것>에서는 대만의 언어들을 중심으로 진행하였다. 대만의 언어들 중 민남어와 객가어를 중심으로 대만의 공용어가 짧은 시간 안에 만다린(화어)으로 바뀌어 가고, 일상에서 익숙했던 언어가 더 이상 익숙하지 않은 언어로 변해가는 과정과 보이지 않게 작동했던 통제들을 개인들의 기억을 통해서 드러낸다. 인터뷰에 참여한 사람들은 40대에서 80대까지 급격한 언어 변화를 겪은 세대들이다. 각 에피소드별 화면은 시간이 갈수록 점점 어두워져 말하는 사람들을 구별하기 힘들게 된다. 이를 통해 전체 안에 위치하게 된 개인들의 모습을 드러내고자 하였다.
'Disappeared, Disappearing' explores the languages of Taiwan through a focus on Taiwanese Hokkien and Hakka. The work traces the rapid shift toward Mandarin as the dominant language, revealing how once-familiar languages recede from everyday life and become estranged. Through individual memories, it brings into view both the lived experience of linguistic change and the unseen structures of control that underlie it.
The interviewees, spanning generations from their forties to their eighties, are those who experienced this transformation most directly. In each episode, the screen gradually darkens over time, making it increasingly difficult to distinguish the speakers. Through this visual strategy, the work seeks to evoke the ways in which individuals are situated within a larger collective.
