완벽한 결말의 서막 시리즈는 개인, 그룹 인터뷰로 구성된 영상으로 각 영상은 <완벽한 결말의 서막_K(나라 이니셜)_19(인터뷰 연도)_01(인터뷰 순서)>과 같이 제목이 붙는다. 한국과 대만, 홍콩에서 유사 상황/ 나이별 그룹 혹은 개인들을 대상으로 언어의 변화과정에 대한 인터뷰를 하였고, 이를 바탕으로 제작하였다. 인터뷰를 통해 언어변화라는 모호하고 큰 역사적 과정들이 개인들의 기억에는 어떻게 남아있는지 수집하고자 하였다. 한국과 대만, 홍콩의 학교에서 표준어 등 특정 언어를 사용하게 한 점, 사투리 혹은 지역어 등 소수 언어와 계급을 연결하는 점, 그리고 특정 언어에 대한 수업을 암암리에 늘려가고 있는 점, 그리고 복원하고자 하는 방식의 유사점 등 개인들의 이야기는 각기 다른 지역, 세대의 이야기지만 유의미하게 연결된다. 이는 한국, 대만, 홍콩 뿐만 아니라, 표준어 규정 등이 있었던 프랑스, 일본, 유럽 각 지역 등에서 매우 유사한 형태를 보이고 있다. 개인들의 기억이 이야기하는 언어변화 과정을 통해서 우리 안에 만들어진 경계, 그리고 그 경계를 만드는 것들 것 대해 생각해볼 수 있도록 의도하였다.

완벽한 결말의 서막_H_18 시리즈는 홍콩의 광동어를 배경으로 한다. 급격한 사회적 변화를 겪고 있는 홍콩의 언어 변화 상황을 가장 많이 직접적으로 경험하고 있는 20대를 중심으로 개인들의 기억을 인터뷰의 형식으로 수집하였다.
The Prologue of the Perfect Ending series consists of video works structured around individual and group interviews. Each piece follows a specific naming convention: The Prologue of the Perfect Ending_K (country initial)_19 (year of interview)01 (interview sequence).
The series draws on interviews conducted in Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. It features individuals and groups from various generations, as well as participants who share similar social experiences, all focusing on the dynamics of linguistic change. Through these conversations, the project explores how broad, often ambiguous historical shifts in language are preserved within personal memory.
Though rooted in different regions and generations, the interviewees' accounts are deeply interconnected. They reveal striking parallels: the imposition of standard languages in schools, the association of dialects or regional languages with social class, the subtle expansion of education centered on specific languages, and the shared methods used to preserve or restore native tongues. These patterns emerge not only in Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, but also in countries like France, Japan, and various parts of Europe, where similar systems of linguistic standardization were implemented.
Through these personal recollections of linguistic transformation, the series invites reflection on the internal boundaries we construct and the ongoing forces that sustain them.
